The function of gasketed joints is significantly determined by the properties of the gasket. These are necessary for both the selection of a suitable gasket and the required proof of tightness and integrity. Additionally, these characteristics are required for quality assurance purposes by the gasket manufacturers.
The most important properties are summarized in a set of (standardized) gasket factors.
AMTEC developed a series of test rigs to determine gasket properties – accurately and cost-effectively. Tests can be performed according to national and international standards as well as according to user-defined procedures.
Integrity and tightness of stuffing box packings (valve stem seals) has to be safeguarded during the entire life cycle.
The first step to achieve this is done by selecting the materials. Regarding the selection of the most suitable packing material, material characteristics have to be known in detail. Additionally, material characteristics are required to determine the prestress which has to be applied during assembly (tightening torque) and for tightness analysis as well as for the calculation of the friction forces.
Characteristic material properties of packing materials are:

amtec NA developed test rigs for all relevant characteristics of stuffing box packings. These test rigs are ideal tools for product development and quality control for packing material developers and for end users who operate a lot of valves in their plants.
The test rig TEMESstb.freak provides
The test rig can be operated manually and fully automaticly - an advantage regarding long test duration
The core of this test rig is the simulation of a stuffing box packing / valve stem interaction.
Integrity, function and tightness valves have to be safeguarded during the entire life cycle.
After the selection of suitable packing materials for the stem seal and suitable sealing materials for the body seal, the fully assembled valves must be subjected to various measuring, testing and qualification procedures. There are different test standards for this, which pursue different goals. like
We have developed test benches for these valve tests. These test benches represent an ideal, sophisticated tool for various approval tests or, more generally, for quality control purposes.
TEMESvalve.teq allows you to carry out experiments with
The test stand can be run manually and fully automatically – a crucial advantage for long test times.
Standardized test procedures such as e.g. according to
can be carried out in this test rig, both with helium and with methane as the test medium.
